We have here a John Broadwood and Sons Boudoir Grand Piano. Serial number 52255, and believed to date therefore from 1914. The original handwritten label with this number is still present. The music stand and lyre are both original, though it is possible that it had round legs originally, that have been changed for square legs at some time. This piano has the barless steel frame, which gives consistency of tone. This was unique to Broadwood, and did not have a long production life. The gilding on the frame is in good condition and believed to be original. Worth noting is that these barless pianos are heavier than there equivalent sized counterparts. Approximately 6'9" in length the piano is in good condition.
