Up-right Rameau piano, 120x150x55cm (little up-right brother of the world renowned French mark, Pleyel, with its history dating back some 200 years). The manufacturer Rameau sought always to recapture the aesthetic and tonal appeal of the Pleyel pianos of ‘avant guerre’. This represents excellent value at £4,000. The immaculate quality of the traditional French polishing (black ebony) makes this a wonderful addition to any home and is remarkably knock and scratch resistant (None discernable at an estimated age of 25 years). This fine piece of furniture is only matched by the richness of its sound, solid action and responsive keyboard, something rarely encountered in an up-right. It needs to be heard to be appreciated. It has served my family for just on ten years with regular in-the-home piano lessons for most of that period for up to three children. The principal player is now off to University in September 2010 and mum and dad are moving to an apartment. The piano was purchased second hand from W. Barning in Leyden, The Netherlands, in early 2000. Barning Piano’s has specialised in piano sales since 1921. This instrument is suitable for all players, including professionals. Most importantly, this instrument should be lovingly transported to its new home by a professional piano removalist.
